Ground Report 2025: Will have stories that matter most to us
GroundReport expands its environmental coverage in 2025, focusing on climate change, extreme weather, agriculture, and rural India’s challenges.
As we step into 2025, Ground Report is more committed than ever to bringing you in-depth coverage of environmental issues affecting India. In the past year, your support has played a crucial role in helping us report on pressing environmental concerns, particularly in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. This year, we’re excited to announce that we will be expanding our coverage to other parts of India, ensuring we cover a broader range of environmental topics, from extreme weather patterns to the impacts of climate change to agriculture, marginalised communities, health, energy, and more.
Our reporters will cover more areas this year, we're expanding our coverage to include more parts of India where environmental problems are just as urgent but often ignored. Our team is dedicated to reporting from these areas, making sure the voices of communities affected by climate change and environmental damage are heard.
In 2025, we plan to take a deeper look into the environmental challenges facing various regions of India. While we’ve focused a lot on rural Madhya Pradesh in the past, we believe it’s important to widen our scope to understand how different parts of the country are dealing with climate change. Our goal is to shed light on the environmental stories that often receive insufficient attention, ranging from the impact of unpredictable weather on crops to how communities are adapting to rising temperatures.
One of the major issues we will be looking at this year again is the extreme weather events that have been becoming more frequent and intense across India. From floods to heatwaves and unpredictable rainfall patterns, these weather events are having a serious impact on agriculture and the livelihoods of millions of people. With our expanded coverage, we will explore how communities in both urban and rural areas are adapting to these changes and how climate change is making these events more severe.
We’ll also be looking into the agriculture sector more deeply, which is significantly affected by the changing climate. Farmers are facing challenges like erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, and unpredictable crop yields. Many farmers are struggling to cope with these changes, and we will report on their struggles and the solutions they are turning to. By speaking to farmers, experts, and local communities, we aim to bring you stories that showcase the real impact of climate change on India’s food security and rural economy.
In addition to these stories, we will be covering the ongoing climate crisis and how it’s affecting India’s ecosystems. From disappearing glaciers to rapidly changing landscapes, the impact of global warming is being felt in every corner of the country. We will work to bring these issues to light, helping you understand the long-term consequences of environmental degradation and the urgent need for action.
2024 was a year of growth for us, and we are grateful for the support we received from our readers. As we move into 2025, we are more determined than ever to continue our mission of providing independent journalism on environmental issues. Your support has been crucial to our work, and we ask that you continue to stand by us. Whether it’s through donations, sharing our work, or providing feedback, your contribution helps us maintain our commitment to honest and impactful reporting.
